Subject: Deterioration of Human Rights Situation, Recent Atrocities, and Enforced Disappearance of Detained Activists
To:
1. Ms. Mai Sato, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran
2. Human Rights Watch
Greetings and Respects,
Thereby, the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) brings this open letter to your attention under grave and critical circumstances. You, Excellencies, and relevant international bodies are yourselves close firsthand observers of the perilous situation, ruthless suppressions, and widespread human rights violations committed against the people by the security and military institutions of the Islamic Republic. Your continuous reports and assessments also testify that following the uprising of January 2026, and particularly during and after the Forty-Day War, the scale of atrocities, killings, disappearances, and systemic repression in Iran—especially in Kurdistan—has reached its peak. Exploiting this crisis, the ruling regime has intensified its repressive measures against political and civil activists. In this line, according to recent state decrees, even all members and supporters of Kurdish political parties have been officially categorized as “Mohareb” (Enemies of God) without any distinction, putting them at severe risk of execution and physical elimination.
In the continuation of this widespread crackdown, several of our activists operating inside Iran have been abducted and detained by the forces of the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic. Among them are:
. Idris Faghhi (detained on July 25, 2021)
. Sirwan Habibi (detained on Wednesday, September 9, 2026)
. Mohsen Qaderi (detained on June 22, 2025)
It is noteworthy that these individuals were entirely unarmed, and their activities were strictly political and civil in nature. Nevertheless, their situation is extraordinarily dangerous, and they are currently facing enforced disappearance. To date, no transparent legal or judicial proceedings have been initiated for them; they have been deprived of the fundamental right to legal representation, and no authority has taken responsibility for their condition or whereabouts. Amid this total lack of information, security agencies have also subjected the families of these detainees to severe pressure and threats to prevent them from pursuing the fate of their loved ones.
Therefore, through this open letter, the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) informs you of this deeply alarming situation and respectfully requests that—given your profound awareness of these realities—you utilize all your legal, oversight, and international capacities to determine the fate of these individuals, urgently halt enforced disappearances, and hold the regime accountable for the atrocities committed.
With thanks and respect,
Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK)
